With greater awareness of indoor environmental qualities, more feedback has been generated based on musty smell and thermal discomfort within offices and commercial buildings. MAEK Consulting has been engaged by various organizations to detect the source of musty smell and that has led to finding mold within the areas. Tests using data-logging equipment and Infra-red Thermography were utilized for to detect the source of mold.

Apart from mold, air infiltration from external source has been identified as one of the main causes of thermal discomfort. Air tightness of enclosed rooms has been highlighted as one of the main causes, where external enters the enclosed room. Rooms may not be cooled and as external warm air is introduced within the cool area, mold may grow on the surface due to the difference in temperature. Air infiltration equipment are mobilized to determine source and repair methods will be proposed. Mitigation methods of mold and air infiltration will also be proposed to minimized further occurrence.
