Patination

Patination is a process wherein a thin layer of oxidized metal forms in its surface. This layer is known as “patina,” and it is being formed intentionally (thru oxidizing chemicals) or unintentionally (metal exposed in the oxidizing environment). Patinas vary in different colours depending on the colour of the substrate metal, the composition of the substrate and chemicals added.
